mise en place.
one of the most important steps in cookery.
preparation, as with all things in life,
helps me fulfill a goal...
though with most things in life,
i am usually unprepared. hahaha
but that's another story meant for another day.
personally, i can't ever 'slice the onions whilst waiting for the garlic to cook' whatever.
the garlic will burn.
cooking must give me a sense of peace and pleasure,
not pressure.
it must be therapeutic
as it keeps me sane.
so planning and* performing the mise en place
are an auspicious start.
i'm not a proper cook,
haven't had proper training
if you don't count waking up at dawn as a fourteen-year-old
to cook breakfast for the family...
but i have e̶x̶p̶e̶r̶i̶m̶e̶n̶t̶e̶d̶ cooked loads since i was younge̶r̶.
so i hope that counts?
lengthy start.
but i am really only saying
mise en place does make e̶x̶p̶e̶r̶i̶m̶e̶n̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ cooking pleasurable.
if you're up for the thrill though, then...
errh it's japchae,
korean stir-fried sweet potato noodles and vegetables.
and i used this this recipe.
but as always,
brain says tweak tweak tweak.
